Tips to Organize Living with Multiple Pets
If you love animals, it is difficult to resist adding more of them to your ever-expanding family. But organizing your house and your life around them may require more planning than you might assume at first. If you are in this situation, use the below-mentioned tips to make the process easier.
Designate separate feeding spaces.
Food fights can be a common sight in a house with multiple pets. In case you have multiple dogs, the more dominant one may try to eat the other dogs’ food. Dogs and cats may also try to sneak in and eat from the other’s bowls. To prevent any fights and chaos; designate separate spaces for each of your pets. They will recognize their own spaces and feeding bowls pretty soon. Doing so will make your life easier when it comes to feeding your pets.
Invest in multiple comfortable beds.
Buy separate beds for each of your pets. Yes, they may all try to use the same one at the same time! But they will soon choose their preferred beds and begin to use them the most. It will also free up space for you and other family members on the sofa and beds.
Buy food in bulk.
Pet food can run out before you know it. So, buy them in bulk. It will be less expensive to do so. Store them in airtight containers and away from the reach of your pets.
Organize toys, leashes, and other supplies.
If you have pets, can toys be far behind? No way. So, keep them organized in a big laundry basket or such. Keep leashes and collars in designated places. Otherwise; you will be forever looking for them when it’s time to go out for walks or drives. With multiple pets, even leashes can cause havoc!
Protect your furniture.
It doesn’t matter to pets whether your furniture is expensive or not. They will enjoy tearing it apart. OK; that’s going to the extreme. But pet hair can cover your furniture whether you allow them on it or not. So, keep couches and cushions covered with sheets.
Keep cleaning supplies handy.
Use non-toxic cleaners for your floors. Keep them handy as there will be more spills and cleaning opportunities in a house with multiple pets.
Clean the house regularly.
Vacuum the house twice a week. Remove pet dander regularly. Dust away pet hair from furniture. If you slack on cleaning tasks, you will have a major pile of dust and hair to remove when you finally tackle it.
Keep indoor air fresh.
Use safe air fresheners. You can also use diffusers with essential oils to keep your house smelling divine.
Keep the first aid kit always stocked.
Regularly check the first aid box and restock it as needed.
Keep emergency numbers handy and make them accessible to all family members.
Write down numbers of your veterinarian and family members/friends and stick it on the fridge. Always save these numbers on your phone as well.
